We live in Porto Alegre, the Brazilian southest state capital. Some of us played RPG together for long, notably Dani, Pedro and Wal. With the exception of Bera, we all have been playing RPG for long, trying different systems and living the changing moods RPG in general has been through for the past 15 years or more.
In our small world we participated of the hack and slash and rules oriented style of play of old AD&D and GURPS to the transition to a dramatic style proposed by Vampire. And then we felt deeply connected with the manifest that is The Window. So, when gameplay fashion turned again to being rules oriented with the advent of D&D third and forth edition, we perceived ourselves losing our ground. In time we ended rejecting it all.
Today we are all grown men. As we have our different lines of work and busy exciting lives, we join together to play for just a couple of hours every weekend or so. As we have more subjects of interest in common, we lightly try to stay focused on the game, not to get our attention gravitating towards music, our lives & loves, food, parties, other games (notably Munchkin, Star Wars Miniatures, Rage... and Playstation) an the like. As the Paths to Chaos is really getting intense, we are not having much trouble with it... as long as we begin playing.
We try to focus our game play on the story. That's what we love in RPG, to tell a story together, and to live it. We are not into bureaucratic system play... Sometimes we do get carried away discussing the rules, but it is a silent group agreement that the rules are only there as a way of interacting with the story. So we try to be quick about leaving or changing any rule that is not making sense in the inner story reality feel.
Fortunately, Warhammer Fantasy RPG is amazing for it's system simplicity and fantastically elaborated scenario. With it we found an RPG that can give us both the simple fun of dice rolling and the complex fun of roleplaying, immersing ourselves in a world that has sufficient layers for our critical minds to enjoy themselves. And that's what we have been doing for the past few months, boldly going beyound our own old concepts and having a lot of fun playing a pre-generated official campaign... but, of course, with benefits.
So you are invited to join us in our adventures walking the Paths to Chaos. Be welcome everywhere, use whatever you like (please, take a look at our Creative Commons licence at the bottom of the page, we are enthusiasts of smart copyleft!) and enjoy yourself. Excuse our poor English! If you choose to comment, we are eager to know your opinion of everything.
Let the Paths be walked... because no one knows what will become of us in the end...
